Kyrgyzstan rewards travelers who give it time — the country is almost entirely mountains, and the best of it is a yurt stay or a horse ride away from the road.

This route starts in Osh in the south, then works north through Bishkek, Issyk-Kul, and the high pastures of Song-Kul, finishing with hot springs at Altyn-Arashan.

Arrival in Osh, visit Sulayman-Too.

Flight to Bishkek, city culture.

Ala-Archa National Park, trekking.

Issyk-Kul: Soviet-style therapeutic spa treatment.

Song-Kul: Nomadic lifestyle, yurt overnight.

Berkutchi cultural experience, eagle hunting.

Skazka Canyon, Martian landscapes.

Karakol: Wooden cathedral and Dungan Mosque.

Altyn-Arashan: Radon springs, horse riding.

Return to Bishkek, final departure.
